Privacy Policy
Live Paper for iOS and iPadOS
Last updated:
In this document, "we", "us", and "our" refer to the developer of Live Paper, who can be contacted at yearplan@163.com. This policy explains how the app handles information on your device, how optional Apple services are used, and how we handle information you choose to send us.
During ordinary use, the app does not upload your notes, photos, drawings, or locations to servers operated by us. It has no user accounts, advertising, third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, or developer-operated cloud synchronization. Apple services and your device's backup settings may process or transfer information as explained below.
1. Information used on your device
Live Paper stores or processes the following information locally to provide its features:
- Your content: note text, drafts, drawings, layout and appearance choices, photo stickers, and custom backgrounds.
- Record information: creation dates, times and time zones, categories, saved-image identifiers, and optional place names and precise location coordinates. This information supports search, calendar views, and map views.
- Preferences: language, appearance, haptics, storage and location choices, reminder times, onboarding progress, pinned backgrounds, and a limited history of paper recommendations.
- Purchase information: verified StoreKit information about purchased products and active Plus access, including subscription expiration or revocation status, to unlock features and restore purchases.
Photo cropping, paper effects, and photo-sticker cutouts are processed on your device. These features do not send your images to an external AI or image-processing service. Imported photos' original GPS coordinates, dates, and other source metadata are not copied into the processed images or used as the location or date of a new record.
2. Optional permissions
Photos
Importing an image uses Apple's photo picker and gives the app access to the image you select; it does not require full access to your photo library. Saving finished notes to the Live Paper album requests full read-and-write Photos access to create, save to, and read that album. The app reads its own saved images and does not scan unrelated photos. If full access is unavailable, you can save notes in the app's local storage instead.
Camera
The app requests camera access only when you choose to take a photo for a photo sticker. It captures a still image and does not record video or request microphone access.
Location
With your permission and according to your location setting, the app requests your current location once for a draft. The location can be used to display a place name, save coordinates with the record, and show the record on a map. Apple location and reverse-geocoding services may process the coordinates to provide a place name. The app does not continuously track you or collect background location.
You can choose whether to add location by default, never add it, or decide when saving. You can also remove location from a draft before saving. Refusing location access does not prevent you from writing or saving a note.
Notifications
Daily recording reminders are off by default. Notification permission is requested only when you enable reminders. You choose the time, and your device schedules the reminder locally. Reminder text is generic and does not include your note text or location. The app does not use a push-notification server or collect a remote push token.
You can change or revoke Photos, camera, location, and notification permissions in your device's Settings. You can turn reminders off and change location preferences in Live Paper. Writing and saving locally remain available without these permissions. Withdrawing permission stops future access for the affected feature; it does not delete information already saved.
3. Saved images, metadata, and backups
You choose where to save each new finished image: the Live Paper album in Apple Photos or the app's local storage. Each finished note has one original image in its chosen destination. The app keeps its record index, drafts, custom backgrounds, and preferences locally; image thumbnails are cached in memory.
If you keep a location when saving, the finished image includes precise GPS coordinates in its metadata as well as the visible place name. Saved images also contain creation-time and time-zone metadata. Hiding the visible time does not remove this metadata. To save an image without location, remove the location before saving. Changing a permission or setting later does not remove information from an existing image.
Images saved in Apple Photos may synchronize through iCloud Photos according to your Apple settings. Device or iCloud backups may also include the app's local data according to your system settings. We do not operate these services or receive copies of those backups. Retrieving an original stored in iCloud may require a network connection.
If you share a saved image using Photos or another app, that service or the recipient may receive the image and its metadata. Review the image and your sharing options before sharing information you wish to keep private.
4. Apple services and other disclosures
Apple provides photo-library access, location and map services, notification delivery on your device, and App Store purchases. Map displays, place-name lookups, purchase verification, and purchase restoration may communicate with Apple. Apple's handling of information is governed by its applicable service terms, your system settings, and Apple's Privacy Policy.
Apple handles payment and billing. Live Paper uses verified purchase information to determine Plus access. We do not receive your payment-card number or payment credentials through the app.
We do not sell personal information or share app content with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or external AI services. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
5. Information you send to support
If you contact us, we receive the contact details and information you provide, such as your email address, message, and any screenshots or diagnostic details you choose to include. Please send only what is needed to explain your request. Sending your journal or photo library is not required for support.
We use this information to reply, resolve the request, and meet applicable legal obligations. Our email service provider may process the messages to deliver and store them. Any provider processing support information on our behalf must use it only to provide that service and protect it under applicable confidentiality and data-protection obligations. We may disclose support information if required by law or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, support information is processed as needed to respond to your request, for our legitimate interest in providing support, or to comply with a legal obligation, as applicable. Support messages are retained only as long as necessary for those purposes and are then deleted or anonymized.
6. Retention and deletion
Local records remain until you delete them. Drafts remain until they are saved, cleared, or replaced. Draft attachments and custom-background files that are no longer needed are removed when they are no longer referenced by the library, a draft, an undo operation, or a pending save.
- Local notes: deleting a note removes its local original image and record. The app has no recovery bin for locally deleted notes.
- Photos notes: deleting a note saved in Photos asks for Apple's deletion confirmation. If you confirm, the photo follows Apple's Recently Deleted process. Cancelling the confirmation preserves the note. You can manage permanent deletion in Photos.
- Photos access: with full access, the app can confirm that an image has been deleted in Photos and remove its corresponding record. Limited or denied access may make an image unavailable without deleting it.
- Custom backgrounds: deleting a background from your library does not alter finished images that already use it.
- Deleting the app: uninstalling removes the app's local notes, index, drafts, custom backgrounds, and preferences. Images already saved in Apple Photos remain there. Backups or synchronized copies are managed separately through your Apple settings.
Live Paper has no user account and no developer-held copy of your journal to delete. We cannot retrieve or remotely erase content stored only on your device, in Photos, or in your backups. You can contact us to request deletion of information you sent to support, subject to any legal retention requirement.
7. Security and your rights
The app uses iOS and iPadOS sandboxing and file protection for locally saved content. No storage or communication method can guarantee absolute security. Protect your device, Apple Account, and backups using the controls available from Apple.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing of, or obtain a copy of personal information we hold, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Contact us to exercise these rights for support information. Local app content is managed directly on your device. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
8. Children
Live Paper is a general-purpose app and is not directed specifically to children. We do not ask for a user's age or knowingly solicit personal information from children. A parent or guardian may contact us about information a child has sent to support, and we will take appropriate steps under applicable law.
9. These policy pages
These HTML documents contain no cookies, scripts, analytics, or remote fonts. When served online, the hosting provider receives connection information, such as an IP address, to deliver the page and may retain operational or security logs under its policies. This does not give the hosting provider access to your locally stored journal.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy if the app's features or information practices change. We will update the date above and provide any additional notice or request any consent required by applicable law. A policy update does not itself grant new device permissions.
